The tour normally begins after breakfast at your hotel, most likely in the Thamel area. A Trek Ways Nepal representative will come to pick you up and introduce you to your experienced rickshaw rider and local guide. Your rickshaw will then take you on a fascinating journey through the heart of Kathmandu.

Start Your Rickshaw Adventure from Thamel
Your adventure begins from your hotel in Kathmandu, usually around Thamel. Thamel is one of the most popular tourist neighborhoods in Kathmandu, known for its restaurants, hotels, souvenir shops, trekking stores, cafés, and lively streets.

Once you meet your rickshaw rider and local guide, you will settle into the rickshaw and begin your ride. The rickshaw provides a unique way to see Kathmandu. You are close enough to the streets to hear the sounds of the city, see local businesses, observe people going about their daily activities, and experience the atmosphere that can sometimes be missed when travelling inside a vehicle. From Thamel, the ride continues along Lekhnath Marg toward the central part of Kathmandu.

Ride Through Ratna Park and Bhadrakali
As you leave the Thamel area, your rickshaw takes you toward Ratna Park, one of Kathmandu's well-known public spaces. The area around Ratna Park is always active, with pedestrians, public transportation, shops, street vendors, and locals travelling between different parts of the city. The journey then continues toward Bhadrakali, an important religious area in central Kathmandu. Along the way, you will see a mixture of modern Kathmandu and traditional urban life. Visit Dharahara

Continue to Kathmandu Durbar Square through Local Markets. From Dharahara, the rickshaw ride continues toward Kathmandu Durbar Square, travelling through local streets and markets. This section of the journey is particularly enjoyable because you get to see Kathmandu's traditional commercial life at street level. You will pass shops, small businesses, local vendors, pedestrians, and traditional buildings. Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the most important historical and cultural areas of the city. The square is surrounded by historic palaces, temples, courtyards, sculptures, and traditional Newari architecture. Your guide will introduce you to the history and cultural importance of the area. You will also have time to explore the surroundings and take photographs.

After exploring the Durbar Square area, the rickshaw journey continues toward Asan Market, one of the most famous traditional markets in Kathmandu. The market is usually busy with locals shopping for vegetables, spices, grains, fruits, household items, religious goods, and other products. The narrow streets and colorful shops create a lively atmosphere that makes Asan one of the most interesting places for visitors who want to experience authentic local life. Your rickshaw will take you through or close to the market area, allowing you to observe the activity around you. Return to Thamel Through Jyatha and Chhetrapati
After experiencing Asan Market, the journey continues back toward Thamel through Jyatha and Chhetrapati. These neighborhoods offer another interesting combination of traditional Kathmandu and modern tourism. You will see local shops, restaurants, traditional buildings, trekking stores, souvenir shops, cafés, and businesses serving both local residents and international visitors. Finally, the rickshaw enters the lively streets of Thamel, taking you through the main tourist area before returning you to your hotel.
